In Autumn on a rainy day
You ask me what my favorite kind of a day in New York is, what my favorite weather is, when am I the most in love with New York, and I’ll answer in a heartbeat that it’s New York in autumn on a rainy day. It’s very specific and most people aren’t a fan of bleak and gloomy days. But when it hasn’t rained in months, everyone is eagerly waiting for the temperatures to fall, we’re ready for hibernation and one fine night, it starts raining, properly, for a good 12 hours, and you wake up in the morning to soft winds, colors changed, everything smelling fresh, paired with the pretty fall foliage colors everywhere on the streets, I bet you will agree with me.
Today, the 21st of November, is one such Thursday. I’m out on the streets, on my way to the subway, covered in three layers of clothes, my tote bag in hand, in search of a cafe in Tribeca to sip a coffee out of and maybe write a blog or two taking advantage of the inspiration such a weather gives me. I always used to say that I’m like a frog, or a peacock, because as soon as it rains, my heart dances with joy and the sense of happiness and peace that comes after that dance is unlike anything else. So I’m gonna go do that, and share with you in pictures, the beauty I have been trying to describe above.
